Kyle Bennett was born in 1987, in St. Albans, Newfoundland, Canada. He studied Fine Arts at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College and obtained his Bachelor of Fine Art degree in 2011.
Kyle’s work is focused around oil painting and stone sculpture where he uses form, light and mood to explore different ideas within his practice.
Most recently Kyle’s focus has shifted from seascapes to large portraits of minerals where he highlights the natural beauty of each specimen while questioning ideas around how we conceive such objects to be “valuable” whether based on their intrinsic value or utility, what and how we deem “rare” commodities, as well as how we deal with the environmental impact of large scale mining practices.
Kyle lives and works in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.
